The word “terrior” fails to express the incredible variety of the region: these wines tell us the story of grape vines grown on rolling hills and flatlands carved out by the elements combined with the traditions of men passed down through generations to make wines with strong local characteristics. This particular blend of heritage and varied geological conditions covers a total of more than 1700ha of vineyards, making it possible for the wineries of the Consorzio in Mantua to produce a range of extraordinary wines, in a surprising volume of over 90,000hl of DOP and IGP wines per year. There are two major winegrowing areas that surround the enchanting city of Mantua: the Morainic Hills to the north and the Flatlands of the River Po to the south.
